Jamaican words, and examples of their usage in sentences:

Ah wha dat – what’s that?

Example: ah wha dat yuh ah luok pan? – What’s that you’re looking at? (what are you looking at?)

siyame suh – just like that

Example: ah siyame suh dem seem – they saw him just like that

Wen trubble tek yuh – when you are in trouble

Example: when trubble tek yuh yuh nah guh ah nutten fi seh – when you are in trouble you’ll have nothing to say

Galang yaa – go ahead

Example: galang yaa missus caw dem ah ramp roun – Go ahead Miss because they are horsing around (wasting time, clowning around etc)
